Simon was appointed on 19 October 2013 and brings over 15 years of experience as a senior executive in the mining sector, having led a range of publicly listed resource companies.  He has a strong background in strategic management, business planning, finance and capital raising across multiple commodities.

Simon previously served as Managing Director of Groote Resources Ltd, where he oversaw its growth from a market capitalisation of under $10 million to a peak of over $200 million.  Following his time at Groote, he co-founded West Rock Resources Ltd and held the role of Managing Director until its acquisition by Boab Metals Ltd in 2013.  During his tenure, he established and managed joint ventures and strategic alliances with both mid-tier and major mining companies.

Since joining Boab Metals in 2013, Simon has led the exploration and evaluation of projects across Australia and South America.  A key milestone under his leadership was the transformational acquisition of the Sorby Hills Project in Western Australia in 2018.  Over the past six years, Simon has overseen the project’s rapid advancement, including a 50% increase in the Mineral Resource, completion of both a high-quality Pre-Feasibility Study, a Definitive Feasibility Study, and the securing of key project approvals and binding off-take agreements – further validating the project’s low risk profile and robust economics.

Simon is a committed member of the Western Australian resources industry, a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
