The Boab Metals Limited Ord Valley Muster is an annual festival of music, art and culture that brings together the vibrant East Kimberley community. It attracts thousands of visitors to Kununurra to experience the stunning landscape, cultural diversity and famous Kimberley hospitality.

Boab Metals is committed to sponsoring Teach, Learn, Grow (TLG) in improving student’s tuition in the East Kimberley of Western Australia.

Teach, Learn, Grow (TLG) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting educational and engagement outcomes of children in rural and remote communities across Australia.

TLG’s Rural Program enables groups of university student volunteers to work at East Kimberley College (Kununurra) and Wyndham District High School to deliver a week of literacy, numeracy or STEM curriculum activities to primary aged students.  The volunteers also motivate and encourage students to engage positively in their learning.

The Kununurra Picture Gardens is a long running outdoor cinema located in Kununurra, Western Australia which screens movies and stage events in the balmy open air.  The venue is community owned and operated by volunteers.

In 2023, the Kununurra Picture Gardens celebrates 60 years of entertaining the Kununurra community and to acknowledge this great milestone a week long film festival from 11-17 June.  Each night a movie will be screened that represents each decade the Picture Gardens has operated.

Boab’s sponsorship of this voluntary organisation enables the Kununurra community and visitors to enjoy the unique experience that an outdoor cinema provides and supports its ongoing future success.

The Kununurra Sun is a local magazine established in 2022 that shares good news stories about Kununurra and celebrates local people, businesses and the vibrant local community.  The magazine promotes the liveability of Kununurra and its attraction as a tourism destination.  The publication was created by two local people, Rosie Duffy and Jess Buchan who together volunteer their time to write and produce regular editions of the magazine throughout the year.

Boab Metals’ sponsorship of the magazine assists with the production and circulation costs.   The magazine also provides the opportunity for Boab Metals to share information about the Sorby Hills Project and the other community endeavours it supports in the region.

The Kununurra Agricultural Show is held annually in July and is one of the highlights on the event calendar in the region. The show encourages participation from all sectors of the community, appeals to all ages and offers something different and unique to the area.

The show provides a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere for families to come together, socialise and engage informally with primary producers, service providers and mental health professionals.

Local businesses and people display and demonstrate their products, abilities and services. People are encouraged to shop locally, which increases revenue for businesses, creates employment and improves the local economy.
