Boab Metals (ASX: BML) charges ahead with further extensions to mineralization at Sorby Hills

October 1, 2021

Highlights

  • Results from the Phase V diamond drilling program have confirmed extensions to the mineralisation envelope at Sorby Hills’ B Deposit.
  • Mineralisation continuity was confirmed between Omega and Norton deposits.
  • Boab has kicked off an infill drill program at the Beta deposit to upgrade Mineral Resource.

Boab Metals Limited (ASX: BML) has announced the final assay results from diamond drilling, confirming further extensions to mineralisation at its 75%-owned Sorby Hills project, located in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia.

Phase V diamond drilling at the Sorby Hills Lead-Silver-Zinc Project was aimed at expanding the mining inventory and increasing the production capacity in the upcoming Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) above 1.5Mtpa as earlier modelled in the Sorby Hills Pre-Feasibility Study released in August 2020.

Overview of Phase V Drilling Program

Boab completed 59 diamond drill holes over an advance of 5,284m. 16 new drill holes over 1600m were added during the course of the program to follow up prospective leads arising from the ongoing drilling.

Extensional targets consisted of shallow, high-grade portions of the Sorby Hills deposit, presently not included in the Mineral Resource or mining inventory.

B Deposit returns encouraging results

15 drill holes have been completed at the B Deposit after encouraging results from the program led to the drilling of five additional holes.

The drilling in this portion of Sorby Hills was aimed at extending the mineralisation in the southeast and in the north-northwest, where the interpretation of drill data indicated a good probability for extensions.

Best results include:

  • SHMD_088: 6m @ 5.37% Pb & 21g/t Ag from 50m (down hole)
  • SHMD_091: 12m @ 5.82% Pb & 24g/t Ag from 35m (down hole)
  • SHMD_104: 6m @ 3.89% Pb & 13g/t Ag from 65m

The Company believes that Phase V drilling results will have a positive impact on the current Resource at the B Deposit.

Omega and Norton mineralisation link established

Omega and Norton are now interpreted to be part of a 3.7km long zone of mineralisation that varies in thickness, grade and depth distribution. The recent drill campaigns highlighted that the main stratabound mineralisation layer at Omega and Norton was located below the base of the Knox Formation, implying a link between the two areas.

Moreover, the recently completed diamond drill holes have confirmed the fact that both ore bodies are located in the same mineralised horizon. This link marks a milestone in the understanding of the ore body geometry and its grade distribution.

Significant opportunity to expand mining inventory at the Beta Deposit

Boab sees a significant and relatively low-risk opportunity to materially expand the Sorby Hills mining inventory from the drilling of Beta deposit. The best results from diamond drilling at the Beta Deposit include:

  • SHMD111: 26m @ 2.58% Pb & 25g/t Ag from 53m
    • 2m @ 7.50%Pb & 58g/t Ag from 71m
  • SHMD114: 9m @ 1.65% Pb & 15g/t Ag from 62m
    • 2m @ 3.68%Pb & 32g/t Ag from 69m

The RC infill drilling program is currently underway at Beta to raise the confidence level of the deposit in terms of grade and thickness distribution. The program will increase the drill hole spacing density and delineate the tabular geometry of mineralisation.

Targets outside of existing Resources envelopes

Boab completed three diamond drill holes to follow up a historic intercept at the Wildcat Prospect, with all the drill holes confirming the extremely shallow nature of mineralisation.

Intercepts include:

  • SHMD116: 26m @ 1.39% Pb & 17g/t Ag from 14m
    • 5m @ 2.12% Pb & 27g/t Ag from 15m

Interpretation of the data suggests that secondary mineralisation at Wildcat is associated with a north-south striking mineralised normal fault, which extends south for at least 1.2km and connects with the Discovery Hill mineralisation.

Road Ahead for Sorby Hills Exploration

Mineral Resource Update

The drilling database has been validated and transferred to the Resource estimation consultants CSA Global Pty Ltd. Boab intends to provide an updated Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) to the market during the upcoming quarter, incorporating the result of the Phase V diamond drilling.
