The 2023 Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster will run from Friday 19 May to Saturday 27 May 2023. We’re less than 6 months away and excitedly counting down the days until the multi-award-winning Muster rolls into town. Here’s a little glimpse of what you can expect when the Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster returns to the Kimberley in 2023.
The Ord Valley Muster: From humble beginnings in 2001 to today
What started as an outback dinner for local businesses has grown into a highlight of the Kimberley’s cultural events calendar. Get ready for a blockbuster. The schedule is packed with local characters, unique experiences, and a few extra-special surprises.
30+ events
Since its inception, the Muster has celebrated everything that makes Kununurra and the East Kimberley unique. Next year’s Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster is bringing even more excitement. You can expect over 30 events, including:
- Dining under the stunning outback stars
- Aboriginal cultural experiences
- Loads of music and entertainment
- Comedy, dance and dramatic performances
From rodeo to yoga boats, and bush tucker to fine Kimberley dining, there’s plenty in the schedule to keep all ages entertained.
10 packed days
When the Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster kicks off on Friday 19 May, the East Kimberley will be buzzing for 10 days. Kununurra is the beating heart of the festival. When the schedule is finalised, you can expect many of the experiences to take place in and around town. We encourage you to sign up for news and announcements at the Muster’s official website. That way, you’ll be first in line for tickets to all the once-in-a-lifetime events, workshops, performances and experiences.
2,500 visitors
When the Muster last took place in 2021, more than 2,300 people visited the Kimberley for the event. Record ticket sales injected over $5 million into the local economy. In 2023, we’re aiming even bigger. After the event being cancelled in 2022 due to COVID restrictions, the organising board is working tirelessly to make the 2023 Muster a safe, smooth, and spectacular event.
Why we took the baton as naming rights sponsor
An incredible community has grown around the Muster over the last 20 years. It’s one of the many reasons Boab Metals Limited is thrilled to be the naming rights sponsor for at least the next two years, taking over from Rio Tinto and the Argyle diamond mine. “Over the years, they have made a vital contribution to Kununurra in terms of employment and community support,” said Managing Director of Boab Metals, Simon Noon. “The Muster brings together the vibrant Kununurra community and attracts thousands of visitors to experience the stunning landscape, cultural diversity and famous Kimberley hospitality,” he said. “As the Sorby Hills Project is developed, we look forward to playing our role in the growth and prosperity of the region.” May 2023 can’t get here soon enough. The iconic Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster is one of the must-visit Kimberley events of the year, and one worth travelling for. We’ll see you there next May!
